I loved watching this live yesterday! I was surprised when the notification for the live chat popped up on my phone, and pleased that I had time and space in my day to enjoy it. I'm always pleased to have time and space, period.
I was also in the Tuesday morning TLC meeting, as I am most Tuesdays. I will miss seeing you for the near future, but having Brandon-Be-Happy as our "substitute teacher" is always a treat. And as so many people have already wisely observed, I'm glad you are taking the time you need to bring out your best creative self. As an honors graduate of Suck It Up Buttercup University, with a degree in Whatever It Takes and a minor in No Crying in Baseball, I wish my younger self had had a positive role model for giving myself a break.
I relate. There is not one day that I feel completely free to pursue my passion without being torn about what is getting let go. So many big f’ing plates getting dropped here too. Thanks for taking the time to share your self in this Substack post.
Laura I just love your real talk. Real real real. I just love love love it. God speed in that book. I am going to buy yours the minute it is out and that book recommendation today. I just loved this talk you recorded, thank you so much for sharing it with us. I just won a huge award for a project I was managing last year - it damn near killed me and I was relapsing, moving 3 times across states, selling and renting then buying a property, stressing about my son, money, in a not healthy relationship. But one of the things I came to realize as I got that huge award is wow girl you’re a fighter, you have tenacity and will. Laura you go girlfriend!!!!! Climb that book mountain and when your at the summit be so darn proud!!!!! ⛰️⛰️⛰️⛰️⛰️⛰️🫶🫶🫶🫶🫶 love Miranda
Writing a book takes such a huge amount of emotional and mental and creative energy that it’s like being eight and a half months pregnant for a year. It takes everything. It’s really hard to get that across to other people who aren’t writers.
I actually saw one of those “ good for you for practicing self care” comments and I immediately cringed/got a little angry on your behalf.
I was thinking, “self care? She’s literally going to be working her ass off to get this book written. She’s not taking a vacation.”
I’m glad you’re doing what you need to do to focus on your third and very important book, though. We will miss you & your words in these spaces (and in TLC!) but we need your words and that book!
This was so good. What a trio. Hope you do it again.
Hi. 🩵 I so needed this today. I’m dropping all kinds of plates lately. It’s gonna be okay. It is more than okay. So good to read your words.

Honesty with self. Yes. 💛
