Love this! As women we need so much more of this.....trust your gut, ask for what you need. NO demand it! I feel like thatās a theme with this new book. No more playing small. Canāt wait to read it! Already preordered months agoā¤ļø

Water, of course. When I first read the phrase "push off from here", I remember visualizing myself in a pool swimming right after a flip turn and leaving the wall behind. So, of course, water on the cover! One of those moments when you hit your palm on your forehead. Well done!

My friend (L.J. Sysko) has her first poetry book dropping in April, and I got to see the process of the cover unfold. So many changes and colors, shapes, designs...it was overwhelming, but it was fun to be a part of it. I love the cover you chose. It's perfect and really stood out from the others! Can't wait to get my hands on it!! Thank you for all that you do!!!
Very interesting! I love that you are happy and didnāt cave for something that didnāt feel right. My libraryās Libby page has a section for colorful covers which I love!
Laura, you made absolutely the right decision and I love how you fought for the cover that would give you that full-body yes. When I see the other covers, I can't imagine how any of them would have worked as well. When you write, "Blue and purple are my favorite colors, the ocean is sacred to me, and the whole thing together delivers the juxtaposition of strength vs. softness and power vs. grace that I aim to convey in the book," I totally get it. The ocean is sacred to me, too, and when I finally get my hands on your book, the love and care you put into writing it, right down to the choice of cover, will be part of the experience of immersing myself in it. See you at the launch party!
I saaaaw some of these early designs!! And Iām so happy with where you ended up. It is just perfect š¤
You were a great audience for my Cover Anxiety. š

Of course, and it only took us a eight months lol.
I got chills in that last paragraph before the Final Round pictures. I love the final one!
I had no clue the pressure and decision making that goes into books covers. Can not wait to get my hands on this oneš¤

Thanks! I got very lucky.
Love those moments of "a full-body yes" !

Yes! It needed to be something real, something tangible, not just color patterns.
Itās great! Canāt wait!

Thank you for sharing the process!! You and your team nailed it! Love it.
